Saturday 28th December, 1996 ================================================================ Title : DCDM3 Filename : dcdm3.bsp Author : Dario Casali Email Address : dario@casali.demon.co.uk Homepage : http://www.casali.demon.co.uk/dario/home.html Description : This is my latest deathmatch level and is in the style of Quake's DM1. I have kept the texture count low, partly because it saves file size, but mostly because it looks damn good. There are no fancy gadgets to this level like in DCDM1 and 2, just a well constructed, balanced level that oozes playability. There is a secret area, fiendishly tough to get to and very heavily disguised. If you find it, don't tell your friends about it. I don't :) I can say with reasonable confidence that this is and will continue to be one of the finest levels you will download free of charge anywhere. The level is constructed to be of use for tactical 4 player games as well as being able to host 16 or more (there are 10 starts). It is fairly neat in design, it is a 3D layout, so the boundaries of the level are quite small despite it's size. After making this mistake in the past, I have made sure that I haven't cluttered the level with brushes so the level will play smoothly on most PCs, there isn't anywhere that slows down significantly, but at one stage you can see down three levels through a hole in the floor - thanks ID for the idea, I just took it one further. Ummm that's about it, just download and play it, or if you're not convinced, look at the screen shots on my homepage first. I changed the sky to be grey, I wanted it greyer but it looked worse, so this'll do. Additional Credits to : Yahn Bernier for BSP - a great editor Info about the Author : I recently graduated from Oxford University and created Doom levels for three years before converting to Quake. I enjoy nothing more than toasting all other players in deathmatches inside my own levels. No-one I have ever met can beat me in my own level (har har...) Other Levels by Author : 16 levels in The Plutonia Experiment, Final Doom. 4 levels in Evilution, Final Doom. Over 50 levels for Doom and Doom2, inlcuding "The Punisher" and "Thebest" deathmatch levels. Author's plug : I've just joined a formidable new games company that will be making games with the Quake2 engine, so if you like this level, look out for us: Valve Software. ================================================================ * Play Information * Single Player : To look around Cooperative : No - single player start only Deathmatch : 10 starts * Construction * Base : New level from scratch Editor(s) used : BSP, latest release.
